Better Than GrandMa's Soap

16 ounces Lard (by weight, not volume)

2.5 ounces Lye (by weight, not volume)

1 cup Distilled water

Time in molds: 24 hours

Ageing time: 3 weeks.

Color and fragrance of choice, or you can leave natural. Do not use food coloring in soaps! If you want a more luxurious bar, use 14 ounces of lard and 2 ounces of lanolin or cocoa butter.

Please Note: I have stopped making and using this soap because of the Lard. I have found that the Lard molecule is way too large to be considered healthy for your skin. Also, it is an animal by-product and I have stopped using any animal by-products in my home made soaps and lotions. This is a personal choice and in no way is intenedto lead anyone to believe that Lard should not be used in soap.
