Castile Soap

Castile soap is named from the castila region of Spain where olives are abundant. True castile soap is made from 100% olive oil (not virgin olive oil). If you're lucky enough to find REAL castile soap in stores today, chances are it's with beauty products, not with bath soap. A warm bath (98 to 102 degrees F) for thirty minutes to one hour promotes relaxation and restful sleep.

16 ounces olive oil (by weight not volume).

2.2 ounces lye (by weight not volume).

3/4 cup cold water

Time in molds: 6 days

Ageing time: 8 weeks

This soap takes lots longer than regular soaps do, but it is definitely worth it!
